Description

This auction is for a vintage color 4X6 glossy photo of the New York City Subway Number 7 train at the Willets Point / Shea Stadium / NY World's Fair station. These subway cars are the units that were made specifically for the 1964 - 1965 NY Worlds Fair. I am not sure what year this picture was taken but it is an older photo and I have narrowed it down. Shea Stadium had the last game played there in 2008 and this picture is long before that. If you notice the stadium still has the colored squares  on it...
The stadium opened five days before the 1964-65 New York World's Fair, across Roosevelt Avenue. Although not officially part of the fair grounds, the stadium sported steel panels on its exterior in the blue-and-orange colors of the Fair, the same team colors of the Mets. The panels were removed in 1980. I can honestly say it was taken during the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. If you notice the train station has numerous different flags out flying and that was done to the station for the World's Fair so that is a true sign that it was taken during the World's Fair. This photo has numerous historic factors...NY World's Fair, NYC Subway System Special World's Fair Trains, Shea Stadium, and the New York Mets to name a few.
It is an actual photo and is printed by a professional photo lab and not on a home computer.
It will not have the small yellow ebay papers on it and is much clearer than what is shown here.
