Portrait of James DeanTaken in the mid 1950s
James Byron Dean (1931-1955): His most famous film “Rebel Without a Cause” released in 1955 made him a cultural icon. He is also well remembered for his role in “East of Eden” in 1955 and in “Giant” in 1956. He died in a car crash in 1955 in Coloma, CA. He was the first actor to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
Details:
This wonderful example of of Dean photograph was taken at the height of his short career. After an exhaustive search online, we were unable to identify the photographer.
Printed on double weight, soft gloss gelatin silver fiber paper, this print has great tone and clarity. Due to remnants of tape on the reverse, this print was used for publishing, but lacking any inscriptions or verso labels, it's exact provenance is unknown. What is known, this print came from a publisher's photo archive in Tokyo.

Condition:
This pint is in good condition. The only minor condition flaws are tape remnants on the reverse and small portions of the surface paper being lifted off when that tape was removed. Please refer to the scans.
