ARRIS SURFboard SB6190 32x8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Spectrum

ARRIS SURFboard SB6190 32x8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem.  I used this with Spectrum.  I bought this new 4 years ago because I heard that you get faster internet speeds using your own modem, instead of the one supplied by your cable provider. I think it was faster.  Also, if they charge you for modem rental, it's cheaper in the long run to buy your own.
My cable provider said that they're upgrading their modems, and I need to use one that they provided for free instead of this one.
