    Description

Photos show everything. Not sure the age, definitely quite old. I am guessing 1940s or 1950s, but I'm really not sure the actual age. It is definitely old, and it shows it. I am not sure whether this is a brass bell or bronze, most likely brass. It appears that it may have been painted, unless it was originally black. Some of the black coating has worn off, as you can see. The horseshoe bracket is very nice, a magnet attracts to the bracket. I'm guessing cast iron or steel. A magnet does not attract to the Bell itself or the nut that screws onto the top to hold the bracket in place. The clapper clangs very loudly when you pull on the string. I'm not sure if this was originally on a boat or a ship or whether it was used as a dinner bell on a farm or just what. But it is very cool looking, the bracket shows surface rust/pitting/patina. I don't know what else to say about this bell, other than the diameter of the Bell itself is 6". The Bell is about 4 inches high. The total weight is 2 lb.
