Fiber base gelatin silver print
Press print made in the early 1980s to promote an Ansel Adams photo exhibition that toured Japan in the 1983. This print was made under Ansel Adam's permission.
Details:
Glossy, ferrotype gelatin silver print on single weight fiber base paper. On the reverse is an inscription in pencil in an unknown hand that reads: "Old Faithful Geyser". This is covered over by a taped-on paper label that reads: "
Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, ca. 1940
". This press print which is nearly 40 years old was made under the official permission of Ansel Adams when he was still alive. The main purpose of this print was to promote a touring photo exhibition in Japan and was circulated to media organization for publishing in articles or television broadcast. It was not made from the original negative, but instead from a master negative made specially for producing press prints.

This print is in very good condition with good contrast and clarity. The label on the reverse is affixed by aged cellophane tape.
