    Description

The Acme -  Boatswain Whistle or Bosun's Pipe - Model #A12NP
Made with the Authentic British Admiralty pattern of the Original Boatswain's Whistle also called a Bosun's pipe.
A Boatswain or Bosun is a term for a ship's officer who is responsible for maintenance of the ship and its equipment.
This design dates back to 1870 and was originally used to give commands to the crew. The high pitched notes of the whistle can be heard in gale (winds from 39 mph to 54 mph) conditions.
The Boatswain Whistle or Bosuns Pipe are still used today by Naval Forces worldwide including Australia, Malaysia, South Africa, Great Britain and the United States.
It is now used primarily for ceremonial activities such as welcoming aboard an officer or significant guest and is called to "pipe aboard".
The whistle is new without its original packaging, in good condition - see pictures for details.
