1968 Vintage Wire Press Photo by ASSOCIATED PRESS.Shelters in Washington DC to house Civil Rights Demonstrators in the Poor People's Campaign were under construction with the Rev. Ralph Abernathy signalling the start of work. The shelters are on the small between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. The Rev. Abernathy is the leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
