This is the site of Ray Kroc's first McDonald's restaurant, west of Chicago, which opened for business on April 15, 1955. McDonald's Corporation held onto the property and eventually restored this accurate replica of the original 1955 fast food restaurant. It does not operate today and there is a modern McDonald's across the street. Notice Speedee on the sign. Speedee was replaced with Ronald McDonald in 1967. The photo was taken sometime after 1980 and is quite sharp. It has been significantly improved. You will see nice detail, especially in the larger-size prints (see "Larger print sizes are available" below). Please see our 1950s photos as well.

This improved print has been made for you new, in a photo lab. We have taken great care to preserve the sharpness while removing scratches, spots, and other damage that would make it less viewable. We have repaired imperfections and improved tonal values.

Finish:

Border:
Your print will have a minimum border. This means that there may be some white edges (less than 1/4 inch wide) outside the image so that you can display the maximum amount of the image in typical devices that hide the edges of the print.
Quality:
Your print has been processed them using modern archival methods and will last for many years.
CD option:
You can request to substitute a CD instead of a print. The CD will contain a version of the image that is optimized for digital presentations, social media, websites, and e-mail. We also include related 1950s drive-in restaurant images on the CD. The images will not exceed 1200 pixels in the longest dimension, and thus may not fill the screen when used for high definition displays. You must request the CD in eBay on the same day that you pay. The CD and images shall not be printed nor reproduced for sale nor distribution.
Packaging:
We ship 5x7 prints and CDs flat with a stiff board to prevent folding, in a sturdy envelope.
Shipping time:
Your 5x7 print or CD will ship the next business day after we receive your payment. So you must request to substitute the CD on the same day that you pay. If you purchase additional eBay items from quaintcards to ship together, an extra day may be required. The time required by the postal services to deliver your package depends on shipping method, Customs requirements, weather, holidays, and other factors beyond our control.

This item is sold with packaging materials and handling included in the price. Domestic postage is also included. For destinations outside the U.S.A., buyer pays actual postage.
