This is an original press photo. Uncle Sam added another fighting ship to his fleet when the 10,000 ton cruiser Indianapolis, recently completed at Camden, New Jersey, was towed across the Delaware River from the shipyard to the Philadelphia Navy Yard and handed over to Admiral L.A. Bostwick, Commandant, who accepted the ,500,000 ship on November 14. Shown above are Captain John Smeallie of New York (left), skipper of the Indianapolis and Lieutenant Commander Paul Bastedo of Buffalo, second in command of the new cruiser. Photo measures 6 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 11-14-1932.
